NECSA CEO CONGRATULATES SOUTH AFRICA’S AMBASSADOR TO THE INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY (IAEA) AND GOVERNOR TO THE BOARD OF IAEA (AGENCY), MR TEBOGO SEOKOLO.
The CEO of the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa), Mr Phumzile Tshelane, congratulates South Africa’s Ambassador in Vienna, Ambassador Mr Tebogo Seokolo, on his election as Chair of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors with effect from Monday, 3 October 2016. He will serve as its Chair for the period October 2016 to October 2017. Ambassador Seokolo also serves as the South Africa’s permanent representative to the IAEA.
This is a huge milestone and a historic moment for South Africa as it last chaired the IAEA Board of Governors in 1959. “Ambassador Seokolo has vast experience and knowledge to steer the IAEA Board of Governors to greater heights . This appointment as Chair of the IAEA Board of Governors, is also reflection of the respect, seriousness and acknowledgment of what South Africa has earned in the field of nuclear,” said Tshelane.
Once again Tshelane commends Ambassador Seokolo and wishes him the very best as he takes on this added role to his portfolio.
