Zukile Zibi

Non-Executive Director on the boards (Department of Electricity and Energy Alternate Director representative)

Zukile Zibi is a seasoned nuclear scientist and strategic leader with over 20 years of experience spanning the full nuclear energy value chain. He currently serves as Director: Nuclear Policy at the Department of Electricity and Energy, where he has played a pivotal role in shaping South Africa’s nuclear regulatory landscape, including leading the development of the National Nuclear Amendment Act 2024 and contributing to the IRP2025 policy framework.

Zibi serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards for Necsa and the National Radioactive Waste Disposal Institute (NRWDI), where he contributes expertise in corporate governance, risk oversight, and technical operations. He is an active member of key board committees, including Audit and Risk and Technical Operations.

His career combines deep technical capability with policy leadership, having held senior roles in nuclear science, engineering analysis, and energy investment. He holds an MSc in Nuclear Sciences (cum laude) and is a registered Professional Natural Scientist. His governance credentials are further strengthened by executive development and corporate governance training.
